National Constitution & By-Laws
The American Legion National Constitution and By-Laws establish the foundation and governing principles for the entire organization. Adopted at our founding in 1919 and amended through our annual National Conventions, these documents define our mission, membership eligibility, organizational structure, and core values. All Posts, Districts, and Departments operate under the authority and guidelines outlined in these National governing documents.
